Gary Thompson, Managing Director
Gary Thompson is the Managing Director of Afirmacon. He is a qualified Quantity Surveyor and licensed builder with almost 40 years’ experience in the construction industry. Gary founded Afirmacon in March 2018, and serves clients in Queensland and northern NSW from offices in Brisbane and Cairns.
Throughout his career, Gary has gained expertise in residential, commercial, industrial, and civil projects, and he has extensive experience providing expert opinion in dispute matters across the construction and resource sectors.
As an experienced quantity surveyor, a former head of the Construction Expert Opinion Division of a national quantity surveying firm, and previously a construction company owner/operator, Gary brings reliability, a broad skill-set, and an in-depth understanding of the construction industry. He specialises in construction cost management and risk mitigation, and on numerous occasions has acted in the role of Project Manager and Superintendent. Gary is currently involved in a major civil project in the Cairns region, and previously was part of a team that provided a replacement cost report for some of the Queensland Government’s larger community assets, including the Gold Coast and Cairns Convention Centres, Roma Street Parkland, and the Goodwill Bridge in Brisbane.
